About Florafinders
We're an orchid aggregator, not a reseller. Here's who's behind it and why we bothered.
Comparing the same Phalaenopsis across different nurseries usually means opening dozens of browser tabs. Florafinders is meant to be one place that shows which grower lists what, what it costs, and whether it was in stock when we last checked.
What we are
Florafinders is a search and comparison catalogue. We regularly read the product pages of orchid nurseries, match each listing to a known plant where we can, and let you search and compare them in one place. We don't hold stock, ship plants, or add any markup.
When you click to buy, you go straight to the nursery and deal with them directly: their terms, shipping, and plant guarantee. We are not part of the transaction.
Why we built it
Orchid buying is unusually fragmented. The plant you want is often carried by someone, but that someone might be a small shadehouse or a large commercial operation, and there is no shared catalogue. Growers do not cross-list. Listings vanish when stock sells out. Prices change as mature plants bloom and seedlings come out of flask.
A serious hobbyist can end up juggling a spreadsheet, a set of browser bookmarks, and a memory of which nursery carries Paphiopedilum and which focuses on warm-growing Cattleyas. That friction felt solvable.
What makes us different
We do not resell. Every listing you see on Florafinders links to a grower's own website. We link to the original product page so you can read the full description, check the grower's notes, and buy from them directly.
We normalise names. The same plant can appear under several spellings across different sites. We match nursery listings to a single identity, linked to the Royal Horticultural Society's grex register where a confident match exists. Matching is partly automatic, so it is not perfect; corrections are welcome.
We focus on orchids. The catalogue covers nurseries and sellers with a substantial orchid range, from dedicated orchid growers to general plant retailers.
We show price history. Where we have observed price changes, we chart them, so you can see whether a listing has held its price or moved recently.
We show one currency. Nurseries in the US and abroad sit side by side, labelled by country where we know it, with every price shown in US dollars. Where a nursery lists in another currency we convert at a reference rate that we update periodically, not a live rate, so treat converted prices as approximate. The nursery charges in its own currency.
How we make money
Right now we do not. There are no affiliate links on the site today, and no grower pays us for placement. We may add affiliate partnerships with growers in future. If we do, we will disclose it here and on the affected listings, and the ranking of results will not depend on it.
