FloraFinders.com ("us", "we", or "our") operates the https://florafinders.com website (the "Service").

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.

We use your data only to provide and improve the Service. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. Unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy, terms used here have the same meanings as in our Terms of Use.

Information Collection and Use

We collect as little information as we can. You do not need an account to use Florafinders, and you never pay us: purchases happen on the nursery's own website.

Types of Data Collected

Personal Data

We do not ask for your name, phone number, postal address or payment details. The only personally identifiable information we may receive is what you choose to send us:

• Email address, if you include one when you send us feedback or email us.
• Your message, and anything you write in it.

When you use the feedback form we also store the address of the page you sent it from and your browser's user-agent string, so we can understand and reply to your message.

Email price alerts are not available yet. If they launch, this policy will be updated before we collect any email address for them.

Usage Data

We collect information on how the Service is accessed and used ("Usage Data") with two analytics services, Google Analytics and Clicky. Usage Data may include your IP address (used to estimate your approximate location), browser type and version, device type, the pages of our Service that you visit, the site that referred you, the time and date of your visit, and the time spent on those pages. We use it only in aggregate, to understand how the Service is used and to improve it.

Our hosting provider (Vercel) also processes standard web-server information, such as your IP address and the pages you request, as part of serving the site, and keeps it under its own retention policy. We do not keep our own log of IP addresses.

• Search queries. When you search, your search terms are sent to our search provider (Typesense Cloud) to return results. We do not keep a log of queries and we do not tie a query to you.
• Error reports. If a page fails to load, your browser sends us a short report (the page address, your browser's user-agent string and the error text) so we can fix the fault.

Cookies and Tracking

Cookies are small files, which may include an anonymous unique identifier, that a website stores in your browser. Our own pages do not set cookies. Cookies are set by our analytics services and by the network that delivers our images:

• Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) to tell visits and visitors apart.
• Clicky sets cookies (such as _jsuid) to count unique visitors and sessions.
• Cloudflare, which delivers our images, may set a short-lived security cookie (__cf_bm) to protect against automated abuse. It is strictly necessary and is not used for tracking.

We do not use advertising cookies, we do not use analytics data for advertising, and we do not record your clicks or scrolling (session replay).

You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. The Service works fully without cookies. You can also opt out of Google Analytics with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Your watchlist is stored in your own browser's local storage. It never reaches our servers and does not sync between devices; clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Product Photos

Plant photos come from the nurseries' own listings. We serve small copies of them from our image host (images.florafinders.com, delivered by Cloudflare), so viewing a photo does not contact the nursery. A few photos that we have not copied yet load directly from the nursery's website or image service; your browser then sends that website your IP address and browser type, but not the address of the Florafinders page you are on. Nurseries can ask us to remove their photos on our image removal page.

Use of Data

Florafinders uses the data described above to:

• Provide and maintain the Service
• Understand how the Service is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it
• Reply to feedback and questions you send us
• Provide customer care and support
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues
• Keep the Service secure and prevent abuse (for example, limiting how often the feedback form can be used)

We do not sell data, and we do not share it with advertisers. We do not have advertisers.

Transfer of Data

Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction, where the data protection laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.

If you are located outside the United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that our service providers process it in the United States.

Florafinders will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Disclosure of Data

Legal Requirements

Florafinders may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

• Comply with a legal obligation
• Protect and defend the rights or property of Florafinders
• Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service
• Protect the personal safety of users of the Service or the public
• Protect against legal liability

Security of Data

The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Service Providers

We use third-party companies to run the Service ("Service Providers"). They process data only to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use it for any other purpose:

• Vercel hosts the website and serves its pages.
• Cloudflare provides our domain's DNS, delivers our copies of product photos, and stores our backups.
• Neon hosts the database behind the site, including feedback messages.
• Typesense Cloud powers search and receives your search terms.
• Resend delivers email, including the copy of each feedback message sent to us.
• Google Analytics (Google LLC) and Clicky (Roxr Software Ltd.) provide the visitor statistics described above.
• DigitalOcean runs the servers that build the plant catalogue and our backups.

Each provider's own privacy policy also applies to its handling of your data.

Links to Other Sites

Our Service links to nursery websites that are not operated by us. If you click on a nursery link, you will be directed to that nursery's site, and its own privacy policy applies. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site you visit.

We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Data Retention

• Feedback messages and email addresses are kept only as long as we need them to handle your message, and deleted on request.
• Error reports are kept only as long as we need them to diagnose and fix the fault.
• Our backups are deleted automatically after 14 days.
• Analytics data is kept under the retention settings of Google Analytics and Clicky.
• Service providers' logs are retained under each provider's own policy.

Your Rights

• Ask what we have. Email us and we will tell you what data we hold that is tied to you.
• Delete your data. Email us and we will delete it and confirm when it is done.

Users in the European Union, the United Kingdom and California may have additional rights (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR and CCPA). You can exercise them by emailing us.

Children's Privacy

Our Service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18 ("Children").

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the new Privacy Policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also say so on the Service.

You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
