Bletilla yokohama belongs to the genus Bletilla. It is a registered hybrid with the seed parent Bletilla striata, a species native to China to Central and south Japan, and the pollen parent Bletilla formosana, a species native to south-east Tibet to Central and south China and north Myanmar, Taiwan, Nansei-shotō. K.Suzuki registered the grex with the RHS in 1956.
