Cattleya mooreana is a large pseudobulbous epiphyte native to central and northeast Peru. It occurs in wet montane forest on large lower riverine trees at about 990 metres in a seasonally dry tropical climate, prefers cool temperatures and partial sun, blooms in summer and is fragrant.
