Cymbidium erythraeum is a large pseudobulbous epiphyte native to the Himalaya to SC China. It grows on steep banks in open mossy evergreen forests at elevations of 1000 to 2400 metres in subtropical climates with cool temperatures and partial shade. The species blooms in summer and autumn and is fragrant.
