Cymbidium haematodes is a pseudobulbous geophyte that grows epiphytically in wet tropical forests. It occurs from south India to south-west Yunnan in China and west Malesia at elevations of 500 to 1900 metres. The intermediate orchid prefers partial shade and blooms in fall.
