Cymbidium mastersii is a large pseudobulbous epiphyte with terrestrial growth habit. It occurs from east Himalaya to China west Yunnan and north Indo-China at elevations of 900 to 2400 metres in wet tropical climates. The plant prefers intermediate temperatures and partial sun. It blooms in fall and winter and is fragrant.
