Cymbidium tigrinum is a miniature epiphyte that also grows lithophytically. It occurs from Assam in Nagaland to west Yunnan in China, including the Chinese Himalayas, Myanmar and Assam India, at elevations from 1000 to 2700 metres in wet tropical climates with a preference for cold temperatures and full sun. Blooms appear in spring and summer and the flowers are fragrant.
