Gongora atropurpurea, the Black-Purple Gongora, is a pseudobulbous epiphyte from Panama to south Tropical America and Trinidad-Tobago. It occurs at elevations of 50 to 2000 metres in wet tropical climates and prefers hot temperatures with partial shade. The medium-sized plant blooms in summer and is fragrant.
