Masdevallia urceolaris is a miniature epiphyte native to cloud forests in the Norte de Santander department of Colombia. It grows on tree trunks in thick moss at about 2000 metres under wet tropical conditions and prefers cool temperatures. Blooms occur in spring and fall.
