Phaius flavus

Phaius flavus is a terrestrial orchid from Assam, the eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, China, Laos, Vietnam, Java, the Moluccas, the Philippines, Sulawesi, Sumatra, New Guinea, New Caledonia, Samoa, Vanuatu, Taiwan, the Ryukyu Islands and Japan. It grows on the humid shady floors of broadleafed evergreen primary forests at elevations of 200 to 3400 metres. The medium sized plants prefer hot temperatures and partial shade and produce fragrant blooms in winter and spring.
