Pleione forrestii is a small pseudobulbous epiphyte or lithophyte. It occurs from north-west Yunnan in China to north Indo-China and in Myanmar on moss-covered boulders and cliffs in shady side valleys at 2200 to 3100 metres. The terrestrial plant grows in a subtropical climate with cold temperatures and partial sun and blooms in winter and spring.
