Pleione maculata
Window-sill orchid
Pleione maculata is a large pseudobulbous epiphyte or lithophyte with a terrestrial growth habit. It occurs from the central Himalaya to west Yunnan in highland primary cloud forests at elevations of 600 to 2000 metres under subtropical conditions. The species prefers intermediate temperatures and partial shade and produces fragrant blooms in fall.
