Catasetum maculatum is a large pseudobulbous epiphyte from Central America to north Brazil. It occurs from sea level to 1000 meters in coastal lowlands near watercourses in a seasonally dry tropical climate. It blooms in summer and fall with 4 to 12 fleshy flowers on an inflorescence to 60 cm long.
