Cleisostoma melanorachis is a small epiphytic orchid first described in 2006. It occurs in northeastern Laos and northern Vietnam at elevations of 600 to 1200 metres in primary and secondary broad-leaved evergreen dry forests on rocky limestone. The species prefers intermediate temperatures and partial shade and blooms in spring.
