Its seed parent is Cattleya schilleriana, a species native to Brazil from east Bahia to Espírito Santo, and its pollen parent is Myrmecophila thomsoniana, a species native to the Cayman Islands. It was registered with the RHS by Mr/Mrs W.Osment in 1974.
