Aeranthes orchids

Aeranthes species are epiphytic perennials or subshrubs from north and north-east Madagascar, the Comoros, north and east Madagascar, central and east Madagascar, the Mascarenes and central Madagascar. They occur in wet tropical and seasonally dry tropical climates. Elevations range from 600 to 1600 metres. Typical plants are medium or small and suited to intermediate or hot temperatures. Blooming occurs mainly in summer, fall and spring.

Thirteen species and three hybrids are catalogued. Example species include Aeranthes grandiflora, Aeranthes ramosa, Aeranthes caudata, Aeranthes neoperrieri and Aeranthes virginalis. An example registered hybrid is Aeranthes Grandiose.
