Broughtonia orchids

Broughtonia species are small pseudobulbous epiphytes from wet tropical regions. They occur most frequently in Jamaica, then from Cuba to Puerto Rico and the Bahamas to Cuba. They favour intermediate to hot temperatures. Most species are fragrant and flower mainly in winter, fall and spring.

Twelve species and two hybrids are catalogued. Example species are Broughtonia sanguinea, Broughtonia domingensis, Broughtonia lindenii and Broughtonia negrilensis.
