Chondroscaphe orchids

Chondroscaphe species are pseudobulbous epiphytes that occur in wet tropical climates. They are recorded from Colombia to Ecuador, from Costa Rica to Panama, from Ecuador and from Colombia to north Ecuador. These plants grow at elevations from 1000 to 1500 metres. They are medium or small in size and prefer intermediate or cool temperatures. Blooming takes place in spring, winter and fall.

Four species have been catalogued. The listed examples are Chondroscaphe amabilis, Chondroscaphe atrilinguis, Chondroscaphe embreei and Chondroscaphe merana.
