Cischweinfia orchids

Cischweinfia species are pseudobulbous epiphytes from wet tropical regions. They occur most often from Ecuador to Bolivia and from Colombia to Ecuador, with further records from Costa Rica to Colombia and west South America. Plants grow at elevations from 250 to 2000 metres. They remain miniature to small and favour intermediate to hot temperatures. Blooms open in spring, summer and fall.

Eight species are catalogued. Example species include Cischweinfia dasyandra, Cischweinfia parva, Cischweinfia popowiana, Cischweinfia rostrata and Cischweinfia jarae.
