Coelia orchids

Coelia species are pseudobulbous epiphytes or lithophytes and sometimes geophytes or epiphytes. They come from south-east Mexico to Central America and the Caribbean. These plants grow in wet tropical climates at elevations from 500 to 2600 metres. They reach medium to large sizes and prefer intermediate to cool temperatures. Most species are fragrant and flower in spring, summer and winter.

Five species are catalogued. The examples include Coelia bella, Coelia macrostachya, Coelia triptera and Coelia guatemalensis.
