Dendrophylax orchids

Dendrophylax species are epiphytic subshrubs from wet tropical climates. They occur from south-west Florida to Cuba, east Cuba to Haiti, the Cayman Islands, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and Mexico to Central America. Elevations range from 250 to 1200 metres. Plants are small and miniature. They favour intermediate and cool temperatures. Most species are fragrant. Bloom seasons are spring, fall and summer.

Ten species and one hybrid are catalogued. Named examples are Dendrophylax lindenii, Dendrophylax fawcettii, Dendrophylax sallei, Dendrophylax barrettiae and Dendrophylax funalis.
