Galeandra orchids

Galeandra species are pseudobulbous epiphytes. They occur in south Tropical America, most often in Colombia to south-west Venezuela, south-west Mexico and Brazil in Espírito Santo. Climates are wet tropical or seasonally dry tropical. Elevations range from 50 to 300 metres. Plants are small or large and grow in hot to intermediate temperatures. Most species are fragrant. Blooming occurs mainly in winter, summer and fall.

Eight species are catalogued. Galeandra baueri is an example.
