Galeottia orchids

Galeottia species are pseudobulbous epiphytes that grow both epiphytically and terrestrially. They originate from wet tropical areas across Ecuador to Bolivia, Brazil to Peru and east Bolivia, south-west Mexico to Colombia, west South America to north-west Venezuela and Brazil in Pará. Plants reach large or medium sizes at elevations between 100 and 1850 metres. Most species are fragrant. They tolerate hot or cool conditions and flower mainly in spring, winter and late spring.

Four species are catalogued. The example species are Galeottia grandiflora, Galeottia acuminata, Galeottia ciliata and Galeottia fimbriata.
