Gomesa orchids

Gomesa species are pseudobulbous epiphytes and epiphytes. They occur as terrestrial or epiphytic plants in seasonally dry tropical and wet tropical climates. The species are found from Brazil to Bolivia, Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay at elevations of 50 to 1500 metres. Plants are medium or miniature in size and prefer cool temperatures. Most species are fragrant. Bloom seasons are fall, winter and summer.

13 species and 14 hybrids are catalogued. Example species are Gomesa radicans, Gomesa crispa, Gomesa recurva, Gomesa flexuosa and Gomesa longipes. Example registered hybrids are Gomesa Jiaho Queen - Flori Parfumate, Gomesa Jiaho Queen and Gomesa Jiaho Queen ‘Jia Ho’ FCC /AOS.
