Koellensteinia orchids

Koellensteinia species are small pseudobulbous epiphytes that also show a terrestrial growth habit. They occur from Ecuador to north Peru and from Trinidad to south Tropical America at elevations of 900 to 2000 metres. These plants grow in wet tropical climates and prefer intermediate to hot temperatures. They flower mainly in fall, spring and summer.

Five species are catalogued. The example species are Koellensteinia graminea and Koellensteinia ionoptera.
