Macodes orchids

Macodes are miniature terrestrial rhizomatous geophytes from wet tropical climates. The species occur from south Nansei-shotō through Peninsula Thailand to west and Central Malesia, New Guinea to Vanuatu, Sulawesi and Borneo in Sabah. They grow at elevations from 250 to 1000 metres and favour hot temperatures. Blooming occurs mainly in fall and winter.

22 species and 5 hybrids are catalogued. Example species are Macodes petola, Macodes sanderiana, Macodes celebica and Macodes limii. An example registered hybrid is Macodes Petola Terrarium.
