Microcoelia orchids

Microcoelia species are epiphytic subshrubs or perennials. They originate from the Comoros, north and west Madagascar, Kenya to north KwaZulu-Natal and the west Indian Ocean. These orchids occur in seasonally dry tropical and wet tropical climates. Plants are miniature or small and prefer hot or cool temperatures. Blooming occurs mainly in spring and winter.

Three species are catalogued. The examples are Microcoelia cornuta, Microcoelia aphylla and Microcoelia gilpiniae.
