Myoxanthus orchids

Myoxanthus species grow as epiphytes or terrestrials in wet tropical climates. They are found from Ecuador to Peru, Colombia to Ecuador, Central America to Suriname and Peru, south-east Ecuador to north Peru, south-east Ecuador and south-east Ecuador to north-east Peru. Elevations range from 500 to 3100 metres. Plants reach large or medium sizes and favour cool or cold temperatures. Flowering occurs in spring, winter and summer.

Six species are catalogued. The example species are Myoxanthus serripetalus, Myoxanthus antennifer, Myoxanthus exasperatus, Myoxanthus fimbriatus and Myoxanthus georgei.
