Myrmecatavola orchids

Myrmecatavola is an artificial hybrid genus. Its registered hybrids combine Brassocattleya, Myrmecophila, Cattleya and Brassavola. Species of Myrmecophila are pseudobulbous epiphytes occurring from south-east Mexico to Belize, south-east Mexico to Central America and the south-west Caribbean, and Mexico. They grow in a wet tropical climate. Species of Cattleya are pseudobulbous epiphytes from north Venezuela, west-central and south-east Brazil, and south-east and south Brazil. They occur in a seasonally dry tropical climate.

Four hybrids are catalogued. Myrmecatavola Mini Fox is one registered hybrid.
