Nervilia orchids

Nervilia species are miniature terrestrial tuberous geophytes. They occur in wet tropical and subtropical climates from Tropical and Subtropical Asia to north Australia, China, Taiwan, Fiji, the Indian Subcontinent, Indo-China and Thailand. Plants grow at elevations from 200 to 2000 metres and tolerate cool or hot temperatures. Flowering occurs in late spring, spring and early summer.

Eleven species are catalogued. Examples include Nervilia marmorata and Nervilia taiwaniana.
