Pelatantheria orchids

Pelatantheria species are epiphytic or terrestrial plants from the Himalaya to Indo-China, south and east China, south Korea and Japan. They occur in subtropical and wet tropical climates at elevations from 200 to 1400 metres. The plants are typically large or giant and grow as epiphytic subshrubs or lithophytic chamaephytes. They prefer intermediate to cool temperatures and bloom mainly in fall, spring and winter.

Seven species are catalogued. The example species are Pelatantheria insectifera, Pelatantheria bicuspidata, Pelatantheria rivesii and Pelatantheria scolopendrifolia.
