Pelexia orchids

Pelexia species are perennial or rhizomatous geophytes that have a terrestrial growth habit. Species come from Mexico to Ecuador as well as from south Mexico to south Tropical America. They are found in seasonally dry tropical and wet tropical climates. The elevation range of the species is 200 to 2100 metres. Typical plant size is small or large. The temperature preference is intermediate or hot. Main bloom seasons are summer.

There are two species catalogued. The example species are Pelexia laxa and Pelexia olivacea.
