Pescatoria orchids

Pescatoria species are pseudobulbous epiphytes of wet tropical climate. They have an epiphytic growth habit. They come from Colombia and Ecuador, with records also from Panama to Ecuador and various parts of Colombia to Ecuador. Elevations range from 70 to 2000 metres. The plants are medium to large and grow at intermediate to cool temperatures. Most species are fragrant. Main bloom seasons are spring, summer and winter.

Thirteen species are catalogued. Examples include Pescatoria dayana, Pescatoria ecuadorana, Pescatoria lamellosa, Pescatoria wallisii and Pescatoria klabochorum.
