About Polycycnis
The plants in this genus are small pseudobulbous epiphytes that follow an epiphytic growth habit in wet tropical climates. They are found at elevations from 1200 to 1400 metres in locations from Peru to west Bolivia, Brazil (Bahia) and Colombia. These orchids have a preference for intermediate and cool temperatures with main bloom seasons in spring. The typical lifeform is a pseudobulbous epiphyte.
Three species are catalogued. The example species are Polycycnis silvana and Polycycnis villegasiana.
