Porpax orchids

Porpax are pseudobulbous epiphytes from wet tropical regions. They occur from China in south Yunnan through Indo-China, Central Nepal, Bangladesh to Myanmar, the Andaman Islands, south India, north Thailand and Assam in Nagaland. Plants are miniature and grow at elevations from 50 to 1600 metres. They prefer intermediate to hot temperatures and flower mainly in spring.

Nine species are catalogued. The examples include Porpax ustulata, Porpax extinctoria, Porpax thaithongiae, Porpax reticulata and Porpax spirodela.
