Prosavola orchids

Prosavola is an artificial hybrid genus whose registered hybrids combine Brassavola and Prosthechea. Brassavola species occur from Mexico to Venezuela and the south-west and south Caribbean, also Colombia to Venezuela and Brazil from Bahia to Goiás. They grow as epiphytes or lithophytes in seasonally dry tropical climate. Prosthechea species are recorded from Mexico to Central America, north-west Venezuela to Ecuador and Guyana, south Florida, the Caribbean and south-east Mexico to Guatemala. They are pseudobulbous epiphytes in wet tropical climate.

Four hybrids are catalogued. Examples are Prosavola Alex Hawkes and Prosavola Notell.
