Rossioglossum orchids

Rossioglossum plants are pseudobulbous epiphytes. Species occur from Mexico to Central America and as far as Venezuela and Peru. They grow in wet tropical and seasonally dry tropical climates at elevations from 1200 to 2800 metres. Typical plants are large or medium sized and prefer intermediate or cool temperatures. Blooming takes place mainly in fall, spring and winter.

Twelve species and four hybrids are catalogued. Example species are Rossioglossum grande, Rossioglossum insleayi, Rossioglossum splendens, Rossioglossum hagsaterianum and Rossioglossum ampliatum. An example registered hybrid is Rossioglossum Rawdon Jester.
