Sievekingia orchids

Sievekingia species are small pseudobulbous epiphytes that grow in wet tropical climates. The plants are found from Costa Rica to Panama and from west Colombia to Ecuador. They occur at elevations from 300 to 1200 metres. These epiphytic orchids prefer hot to intermediate temperatures. Most species are recorded as fragrant. The main bloom seasons are summer, winter and spring.

Four species are catalogued. The example species are Sievekingia fimbriata, Sievekingia reichenbachiana and Sievekingia rhonhofiae.
