Stenia orchids

Stenia species grow as epiphytes in wet tropical climates. They are found from Peru and from south Ecuador to Peru, as well as from Trinidad to south Tropical America and from Ecuador to north Peru. Elevations range from 400 to 2200 metres. The plants are small or miniature and suited to intermediate or cool temperatures. Flowering occurs mainly in spring, winter and summer.

Five species are catalogued. The listed examples are Stenia angustilabia, Stenia guttata, Stenia bismarckii, Stenia calceolaris and Stenia pallida.
