Stereochilus orchids

Stereochilus species are epiphytic subshrubs from wet tropical climates. They occur from south-west Arunachal Pradesh to Indo-China, from China (Yunnan) to Indo-China, from north Myanmar to Thailand and from China (Yunnan) to Vietnam. Plants grow at elevations from 800 to 1400 metres. They are miniature or small and prefer intermediate or cool temperatures. Most species are fragrant. Bloom seasons are spring, late spring and fall.

Nine species are catalogued. The examples are Stereochilus erinaceus, Stereochilus pachyphyllus, Stereochilus dalatensis and Stereochilus brevirachis.
