Trichoceros orchids

Trichoceros species are miniature plants. Their typical lifeform is epiphytic although the growth habit is terrestrial. They originate in wet tropical climates across western South America, with records concentrated in Ecuador including Azuay and Cañar. The elevation range spans 2200 to 3200 metres. These orchids prefer cold temperatures. Main bloom seasons are spring, summer and fall.

Seven species are catalogued. The example species are Trichoceros antennifer, Trichoceros muralis and Trichoceros roseus.
