Trichopilia orchids

Trichopilia species are pseudobulbous epiphytes from wet tropical climates. They occur from Colombia to Ecuador, Central America to Colombia, Panama, Mexico to Central America, Ecuador and Ecuador to Peru at elevations from 70 to 2800 metres. Plants are small to medium and grow epiphytically or terrestrially. They prefer intermediate to hot temperatures. Most species are fragrant and bloom mainly in spring, winter and fall.

22 species and 9 hybrids are catalogued. Example species are Trichopilia hennisiana, Trichopilia tortilis, Trichopilia fragrans, Trichopilia marginata and Trichopilia rostrata. Example registered hybrids are Trichopilia Apache and Trichopilia CHARLES.
