Vandopsis orchids

Vandopsis species are epiphytic subshrubs and epiphytes that may also grow terrestrially. They are found from Bangladesh to China in south Yunnan and south-west Guangxi, and from Peninsula Malaysia through Indo-China to west New Guinea. These plants occur in wet tropical climates at elevations between 300 to 2300 metres. They are giant or large in size and favour intermediate or cool temperatures. Most species are fragrant with main bloom seasons in spring and summer.

Eight species and two hybrids are catalogued. The example species are Vandopsis gigantea and Vandopsis lissochiloides.
