Zygolum orchids

Zygolum is an artificial hybrid genus whose registered hybrids combine Zygopetalum and Galeottia. Species of Zygopetalum occur from north Peru to Brazil, from east and south Brazil to north-east Argentina, and from south-east and south Brazil. They are pseudobulbous epiphytes in wet tropical climate. Species of Galeottia occur from Ecuador to Bolivia, from Brazil to Peru and east Bolivia, and from south-west Mexico to Colombia. They are also pseudobulbous epiphytes in wet tropical climate.

Ten hybrids are catalogued. The example registered hybrids are Zygolum Louisendorf Grex and Zygolum Rhein Moonlight ‘Peloric’.
