Zygostates orchids

Zygostates are pseudobulbous epiphytes native to east and south Brazil, Venezuela to west South America, Brazil from Pernambuco and Paraná to south-east Paraguay, Brazil from Rio de Janeiro to Paraná, Brazil in Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro, and south-east and south Brazil. They occur in seasonally dry tropical and wet tropical climates at elevations from 60 to 900 metres. These miniature plants favour intermediate to cool temperatures and flower mainly in spring, winter and summer.

Seven species are catalogued. The example species are Zygostates grandiflora, Zygostates lunata, Zygostates apiculata, Zygostates bradei and Zygostates multiflora.
