Hemipilia orchids

Hemipilia species are terrestrial tuberous geophytes from subtropical and wet tropical climates. They occur in China from south-east Yunnan and south Guangxi as well as from Yunnan to north Indo-China. Plants grow at elevations from 400 to 2100 metres. These miniature orchids prefer intermediate temperatures. Flowering takes place mainly in summer and fall.

Two species are catalogued. The examples are Hemipilia calophylla and Hemipilia kwangsiensis.
