Pomatocalpa orchids

Pomatocalpa species are epiphytic subshrubs from wet tropical climates. They occur from Sulawesi to Papuasia and north Queensland, in the Philippines, and from the east Himalaya to Hainan and Malesia. Elevations range from 200 to 1600 metres. Temperature preferences run from hot to cool. Plant sizes vary from giant to miniature. Bloom seasons fall mainly in spring, winter and summer.

Eight species are catalogued. The example species are Pomatocalpa spicatum and Pomatocalpa bicolor.
