Gastrochilus orchids

Gastrochilus species are epiphytic subshrubs that grow as epiphytes or lithophytes. They occur from China in south Yunnan to Indo-China and other regions including Taiwan and parts of east Asia. Most come from wet tropical or subtropical climates at elevations from 200 to 3200 metres. Plants are miniature or small and prefer cool to intermediate temperatures. Most species are fragrant and flower mainly in fall, spring and winter.
